Every year, we observe World Students Day on 15 October. This day celebrates the birth date of our former president and the “Missile Man of India,” Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. Dr. Kalam is known to be the epitome of education, and he has taken many initiatives throughout his life to improve children’s education system. His down-to-earth demeanor and humble personality towards India have made him gain the name of “People’s President.”

Abdul Kalam was born to a poor family on 15 October 1931 in Tamil Nadu, Rameswaram. His family was dealing with poverty, and there were no facilities for him to learn and live. From the very beginning of his childhood, Kalam was predicted to be very bright and sensible. He completed his graduation from Saint Joseph’s College and earned a degree in aerospace from Madras Institute of Technology, later joined the defense organization Defense Research and Development Organization. Kalam also showcased his excellence at the Indian Space Research Organization in 2002. Kalam was selected as the 11th President of India. To honor the greatness of Dr. Kalam, World Students Day is celebrated all over the globe.
