  • The “Data Entry Speed Test” (DEST) Skill Test will be conducted for a passage of about 2000 (two thousand) key depressions for 15 (fifteen) minutes. Detailed instructions regarding the Skill Test will be provided by the Regional Offices of the Commission.
  • Candidates are required to type 2000 words in 15 minutes on a computer in English. This test is conducted to check a candidate’s typing skills. Candidates are given an article in English which they have to type on the Computer. For the post of Tax Assistant (Central Excise and Income Tax), the DEST Exam through the SSC CGL 2022 exam is conducted to check the typing speed of the candidate.
  • DEST will be mandatory for all posts. however, it will be qualifying in nature.

  • Tier 1 exam is mandatory for all types of posts given in CGL, and this will be qualifying. The marks of this exam will not be calculated in the final merit list.
