CSIR SO ASO Exam Date 2024 Out for 444 Vacancies

The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has officially released the CSIR SO ASO Exam Date 2024 on the official website www.csir.res.in on 17 January 2024. Candidates preparing for the CSIR SO ASO exam should check the exam dates for Section Officer and Assistant Section Officer posts. This year, CSIR is set to fill a total of 444 vacancies. The CSIR SO ASO exam is scheduled to take place from 5 February to 20 February 2024. Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be conducted on the same day at different timings.

Does the CSIR Exam Include an Interview?

Yes, the CSIR SO ASO selection process includes an interview. Candidates applying for the 76 posts of Section Officer will have to appear for the interview. The interview holds a weightage of 100 marks. Candidates who meet the minimum required marks in Paper– I, Paper- II, and Paper- III, totaling 500 marks, will be called for the interview stage.

CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern

The CSIR SO ASO Exam Pattern consists of different sections. Paper I covers General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension, with both objective and descriptive types. Paper II includes 200 objective-type questions on General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Mental Ability. Paper III is a descriptive paper for English/Hindi subjects. • Paper II:
  • Subject: General Intelligence, Reasoning, and Mental Ability
  • Max. Marks: 200
  • Time: 02:30 Hours (150 Minutes)
• Paper III:
  • Subject: English/Hindi – Descriptive Paper (Essay, Precis, and Letter/Application Writing)
  • Max. Marks: 150
  • Time: 02 Hours (120 Minutes)
• Interview:
  • Interview carrying 100 marks for the post of Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P) only.
• CPT (Computer Proficiency Test):
  • CPT carrying 100 marks for the posts of Assistant Section Officer (Gen/F&A/S&P) only. CPT is Qualifying in nature.
